3.5 million foreigners visited Russia, 2 times more than a year ago

5th of December. /MEDIA TALK/. Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Tourism Forum "Travel Hub. Travel!" discussed the growth of tourist traffic in 2024. Statistics for 10 months show an almost twofold increase in the entry of foreign tourists. Our country was visited by 3.5 million guests, including from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia and Indonesia. These countries showed the largest dynamics of the increase in visits. Traditionally, tourists come to our country from China.

Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development, stressed that foreign tourists are interested not only in the capitals of Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in small towns. Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Tatarstan, the Far East and Kamchatka are popular.

The official noted that the state is working to simplify visa regimes for tourists. Thus, the mechanism for issuing electronic visas has been introduced and is successfully operating. The demand for the service is high and amounts to about 30 thousand visas issued per month, during periods of high demand, the figure reached 70 thousand.
