A large chain of bookstores will reduce prices
November 6. /MEDIA TALK/. The large network "Read the book-eating city" will reduce prices for part of the range of books by 20%, Vedomosti writes. According to the publication, the company has agreed with the publishing holding Eksmo-AST and the Alpina group on new terms of cooperation that will allow the network to reduce the margin on new books and compete more actively with marketplaces.

According to the publishing house Eksmo-AST, offline format accounts for about 40% of book sales, second only to online sites (50%). At the same time, today the price difference on marketplaces and in bookstores can reach 40%.

As Oleg Novikov, the co-owner of Eksmo-AST, noted in an interview with the newspaper, such competition over the past 2 years has led to the closure of almost 86 bookstores, and prices for book products have increased by 7.9% since the beginning of 2024.

As we recently wrote, 6 out of 10 Russians regularly use marketplaces at least once a month.
