Alfa-Bank may be fined 9 million rubles for violating the Law on Advertising
November 25th. /MEDIA TALK/. Today, the Federal Antimonopoly Service announced the initiation of a case against Alfa-Bank JSC in connection with a possible violation of the Law on Advertising. Another 20 cases of violations have been recorded by the department on the part of the credit institution since the beginning of 2024. The total amount of fines for the bank may amount to 9 million rubles.

We are talking about a violation when showing a television advertisement that contains information about transfers without commission. "The best bank for business. Payments and transfers without commission. Open a business account" (quote from the commercial). The ministry stressed that the legal requirements for advertising banking services were not met, as the text of the footnote with detailed terms of service was presented in a difficult-to-understand way and was shown too briefly on the air.

Also, according to the FAS, incorrect comparisons were used in the advertisement and there was no information about the essential terms of payments and transfers without commission. This, in turn, could mislead consumers.

Recall that in November, the Antimonopoly Service opened cases of violation of the Law on Advertising against two more banks - Sberbank for improper advertising of car loans and VTB for violations in advertising credit cards. We talked about this in more detail.
