Analysts noted a decrease in the "creditworthiness" of Russians
February 4th. /MEDIA TALK/. In the 4th quarter of 2024, for the first time in a long time, there was a downward trend in the average amount of consumer loans per customer.

According to the information provided by the United Credit Bureau, Kommersant, a decrease in the indicator was observed in almost all categories of consumer lending. The average volume of loans per credit card user was 2.67, which is less than the value recorded in the third quarter of 2024 (2.73).

In the segment of POS lending (loans issued directly at retail outlets), the index decreased from 3.33 to 3.25. Mortgage lending accounted for 2.49 loans per active debtor, compared with 2.53 in the previous quarter.

In the last three-month period, the indicator for car loans decreased from 3.09 to 3.0. Cash loans retained the indicator of 3.22 active loans per borrower.

Experts explain the reduction in debt obligations by the actions of the Central Bank, including the introduction of strict macroprudential restrictions and an increase in the base interest rate. This has caused a situation in which consumers tend to keep their savings instead of taking out new loans. The average maximum deposit rate in Russian banks at the end of December was 22.27% and became a record.
