Artificial fir trees have risen in price by 15% on average over the year, but they have become almost 40% more expensive to buy

The average cost of an artificial Christmas tree in Russia, recorded in the period from November 20 to December 5, 2024, was 4,260 rubles, which exceeds last year's figure by 14%. During the same period, the number of purchases increased by 39% compared to last year. Data from the research of the HUMOPEU service, analysts of the Check Index of the OFD Platform company are cited by TASS. The survey was conducted among more than two thousand participants from different Russian cities.

According to its results, 59% of Russian residents are going to install a Christmas tree for the New Year. One in sixteen respondents stated that they do not put a fir tree every year, and 4% decorate their homes with needles. Among people for whom the presence of a Christmas tree in their homes is mandatory, 57% choose artificial options, 39% prefer natural trees.

Every third respondent (32%) buys a tree at a Christmas market. Online platforms are the second most popular (23%), and hypermarkets are the third (18%). 5% of respondents cut down coniferous trees in the forest, another 4% purchase them from specialized farms or through delivery services. 1% of respondents buy Christmas trees from popular bloggers.
