Banks are raising deposit rates, on average they already exceed 22%
December 17th. /MEDIA TALK/. Since December 17, VTB Bank has been increasing interest rates on deposits in rubles. For new customers, the maximum deposit rate was increased for a period of three months to 23.7% per annum, as well as for six months to 24%. The data is provided by Kommersant. The marginal interest rate at the end of the three-month deposit for existing customers will be 22.7% per annum. When investing funds for six months, the bank's customers will be able to receive up to 23% of annual income.

At the beginning of the week, Sberbank increased interest rates on savings accounts (up to 18% per annum), but this applies only to the first three months and subject to certain requirements. The maximum interest on deposits in Sberbank reaches 22.5% per year when investing more than 1 million rubles for a period of six months.

On December 6, Alfa-Bank raised to 24% per annum the maximum interest rates on deposits for a period of nine months, one year and three years, as well as on savings accounts.

The largest banks are increasing interest rates on deposits before the final meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation at the key rate. Most experts predict an increase of 200 basis points at once, to the level of 23%.

According to the Central Bank, the average maximum interest rate on deposits among the 10 largest banks in the country in the third decade of November 2024 set a new record, amounting to 21.98% year-on-year.

Recall that in October, a record was also set for the inflow of funds to Russian bank accounts, they increased by 1.5 trillion rubles.
