Central Bank: Russians bought 30 times more currency in August than a year earlier
September 6th. /MEDIA TALK/. On Friday, September 6, it became known that in August of this year, residents of Russia bought currencies worth almost 100 billion rubles. This is 2.5 times more than in July and 30 times more than in the same month of 2023, according to the Central Bank report.

The total amount of foreign funds acquired by citizens amounted to 98.1 billion rubles.

The Central Bank added that in August, there was an increase in volatility in the market, and the ruble weakened against major foreign currencies. The decrease was 5.6% against the dollar.

The Bank of Russia added that in the same month a year earlier, Russians bought currencies worth 3.1 billion rubles.

Recall that in early August it was reported that every fifth resident of Russia is watching the dollar exchange rate. This is the lowest value in the last 10 years, noted in SuperJob.
