Specialists of the National Association of Professional Collection Agencies (NAPCA) explain the decrease in the average amount of debt by several factors. Among them is the tightening of the Central Bank's policy, as a result of which credit institutions provide fewer loans. There is also a more balanced behavior of the population in relation to lending – people take only the necessary amounts and those that are able to repay. The number of borrowers who declare bankruptcy after receiving a loan has decreased.
Experts assume that in 2025 the trend towards reducing the average debt will continue. According to the National Bureau of Credit Histories, as of November 2024, 6.8 million Russians had overdue loans. These are mainly consumer credit and credit card debts. In 9 months of 2024, Russians repaid their debts to collectors in the amount of 30 billion rubles, which exceeded last year's figures by 1.7 times.
