
For residents of the central and southern parts of the country, customers of Premier Energy, the cost of electricity increased by 75%, reaching 4.10 lei per 1 kWh (approximately $0.22). Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord, the company responsible for providing consumers in the northern part of the country, increased the cost by 65% to 4.68 lei per 1 kWh (approximately $0.25).

In the capital of Moldova, the cost of heating has increased by 38%, and now it is equal to 2,510 lei per gigacalory (approximately $139). In the northern part of the country, there was an increase of 17% to 2,126 lei, which is equivalent to about $118, while in the southern part, the increase was 12% to 3,222 lei, which corresponds to about $179 dollars.
The tariffs were recalculated against the background of the crisis that arose as a result of the suspension of natural gas transportation from Russia through the territory of Ukraine. Today, the Parliament of the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic at an emergency meeting approved the extension of the state of emergency for thirty days, until February 8. Earlier this week, the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry called on Moldova to repay its debt to Gazprom.
