From 2026, the self-employed may be given the right to insure themselves against disability
October 17th. /MEDIA TALK/. On Thursday, October 17, it became known that the Ministry of Labor proposed to introduce voluntary contributions for the self-employed in case of their temporary disability. Vedomosti wrote about this with reference to a source.

The provision is spelled out in the new version of the draft law on conducting an appropriate experiment. The initiative was presented at the public council under the Ministry of Labor last month.

The experiment is scheduled to begin in 2026 and end on December 31, 2028. It is assumed that the contribution rate will be set at 3.84% of the insured amount, which will amount to 35 or 50 thousand rubles, at your choice. Thus, the monthly payment will be equal to 1,344 or 1,920 rubles.

To participate in the program, the self-employed will need to submit an appropriate application, and then each month contribute the selected amount. If the payment is missed, the agreement will expire.

Recall that in early October, the Ministry of Labor proposed to limit the self-employed in the ability to perform dangerous work. The types of services that users of the tax regime will not be able to provide can be determined by the government.
