Gas reserves in European storage facilities dropped below 75%
December 26th. /MEDIA TALK/. As of December 26, 2024, the volume of natural gas in European underground reservoirs has fallen below the 75% mark. This is evidenced by data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), as cited by TASS.

European countries have recently reduced the intensity of natural gas extraction from underground storage due to the warm weather, but reserves continued to decrease. Since the start of the heating season on October 29, 2024, over 24 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves have been withdrawn.

On December 24, gas extraction in the storage facilities of the EU countries, according to GIE, reached 387 million cubic meters, while filling was only 39 million cubic meters. Currently, natural gas storage facilities in Europe are 74.99% full (which is 3.34 percentage points less than at the end of December in the previous 5 years). 83.2 billion cubic meters of fuel are stored in the tanks. In November, on average, gas was purchased at a price of $491 per 1,000 cubic meters, in December - about $ 484. The share of wind energy in total generation in Europe in December is 22%.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia is ready to continue exporting natural gas to European countries through several channels, and further transportation of fuel through Ukraine will depend on the agreements reached between the European Union and the Ukrainian authorities.
