December 23rd. /MEDIA TALK/. Honda Motor and Nissan Motor have agreed on the timing of the business combination. The board of directors of the two companies announced the start of negotiations, according to Reuters.

It is expected that the final terms of the agreement will be determined in June 2025, and in April 2026, joint meetings of shareholders of automotive companies will be held to approve the deal. It is planned to create a single management company that will determine the policies of both car manufacturers. The estimated deadline for the merger is August 2026. As a result, the third largest automobile manufacturer in terms of sales volumes will appear on the world market.

They entered into a joint research agreement and expanded their partnership with Mitsubishi Motors in August. The merger of the two Japanese brands will be the most significant reorganization in the global automotive sector since the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA in 2021 into the Stellantis holding company, Reuters notes.
