December 26th. /MEDIA TALK/. The Committee on Legislative Activity of the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law giving hotels the opportunity to set non-refundable rates for accommodation. Vedomosti writes about this today, citing sources close to the Government. Due to contradictions between various departments, the bill is expected to be submitted to the State Duma no earlier than March 2025.

The approved version provides for amendments to the law "On the Basics of Tourism Activities in Russia" and provides the Government with the opportunity to determine the criteria for booking places in hotels.

The original version of the bill has undergone significant changes and has become more general. In particular, it does not define the conditions under which hotels and hostels will be able to set non-refundable rental rates. It is assumed that the details will be regulated by additional by-laws, which have yet to be developed.

We recently told you that the Government wants to limit the price ceiling for hotel accommodation.
