Inflation expectations of Russians reached their highest level in a year in December

In December 2024, the inflation expectations of Russian citizens increased to 13.9%, compared with 13.4% in November, reaching the highest point in a year. 2,000 people in 55 regions of the country took part in the survey of the Public Opinion Foundation, carried out on behalf of the Central Bank between December 2 and 12.

The observed inflation rate, noted by citizens in December, also increased, reaching 15.9%, compared with 15.3% last month. For people without savings, this figure reached 16.9% (compared with 16.3% in November), while for those with savings, it was 14.4% (as opposed to 13.9% in the previous month).

In early December, Elvira Nabiullina said that the Central Bank managed to avoid an inflationary spiral due to the high key rate.
