Mining has been banned in 10 regions of the country

The Russian Government has identified regions where a complete ban or certain restrictions on mining cryptocurrencies will come into force from the beginning of January 2025 to mid-March 2031. This is reported by TASS, referring to the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers. The ban will apply in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

The extraction of crypto assets will be limited to parts of the Irkutsk Region, the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory, although this will be a temporary solution due to the periods of the greatest use of electricity: in 2025 - from January 1 to March 15, and in subsequent years - from November 15 to March 15. This list is not complete and may be revised if necessary, the Government said.

The authorities of Abkhazia yesterday tightened measures to counter the illegal use of electricity related to the activities of cryptocurrency farms. The country has already approved a draft law on the complete prohibition of mining operations, it is assumed that soon the mining of cryptocurrencies in the republic will become completely illegal.
