More than 900 St. Petersburg taxi carriers were left without a license
January 14th. /MEDIA TALK/. The St. Petersburg Transport Committee has banned the activities of 945 taxi carriers. 182 legal entities and 763 individual entrepreneurs are subject to restrictions. The reason was that the carriers did not provide the Committee with information on the concluded agreement on compulsory insurance of civil liability for damage to the life, health and property of passengers.

The notification of the availability of the insurance document had to be sent to Smolny by October 31, 2024. This requirement was contained in the updated legislation on taxis on September 1, 2024. The temporary suspension of the carriers' license will continue for a month, after which it will be cancelled.

The OSGOP policy allows passengers to receive compensation of up to 2 million rubles in the event of an insured event, instead of 500 thousand rubles provided for by the CTP. According to the All-Russian Union of Insurers, which RBC cites, on average, the introduction of OSGOP adds 52 kopecks to the cost of each trip. For carriers, the policy will cost 2.5-3.5 thousand rubles per year.

We have already mentioned that in Russia, by the end of 2024, the number of taxi companies decreased by 20%.
