In 2024, Russia imported 63% more wine from Italy than a year earlier. The volume of shipments reached 170 million euros, said Ferdinando Pelazzo, head of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
From January to March, imports increased by 140% before the new duties began. By the middle of the year, the growth was almost 80%, and by the end of the year the indicator stopped at 63%. Supplies increased not only in monetary terms, but also in liters.

The total supply of Italian wine worldwide reaches approximately 6 billion euros. Purchases from Russia account for a significant share of this volume.
Last year, the Government of the Russian Federation decided to increase import duties on wines from unfriendly countries to 20%. In August of this year, the duty was increased again, it amounted to 25% and at least $ 2 per liter, RIA Novosti reports.
