Russian banks have become more likely to refuse customers to apply for a mortgage
August 29th. /MEDIA TALK/. On Thursday, August 29, it became known that in July, after the closure of the preferential mortgage program for new buildings at 8%, Russian banks began to refuse loans to customers more often. This was reported by RBC with reference to the NBKI.

The share of applications that have not been approved has reached its maximum since the beginning of 2024 — 57%. The trend has affected both the primary and secondary housing markets. At the same time, refusals to issue mortgages for apartments in new buildings reached 73%, for ready—made housing - 50%.

Recall, the day before it was reported that "The House. The Russian Federation" expects a decrease in mortgage issuance to the level of 2022. The volume of transactions accumulated in the first six months of 2024 will not fall below this value, the company stressed.
