Russians will pay 114 billion rubles for profit on deposits
November 21. /MEDIA TALK/. This year, for the first time in Russia, a tax is levied on income from bank deposits and deposits. It is accrued if the annual interest income exceeds 150 thousand rubles. The total amount accrued to citizens for 2023 across the country amounted to 114 billion rubles. This was stated by the Head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Egorov in an interview with RBC today.

The tax was introduced back in 2021, but it began to be applied only last year. Accordingly, payments on it are made in 2024 for the first time. The deadline for payment of taxes on income from deposits, as well as all personal property taxes, is December 1.

According to RBC, according to the calculations of the Ministry of Finance, budget revenues from the deposit tax were planned at the level of 101.58 billion rubles, that is, the result exceeded the expected values by more than 12%.

The tax is paid by citizens independently on the basis of a tax notification received from them. According to Daniil Egorov, at the moment, the granting of powers to tax agents to banks is being discussed, so that they can automatically withhold a tax percentage of income on their clients' deposits.

Recall that revenues to the budget of the Russian Federation from the superprofit tax in 2023 amounted to 315 billion rubles.
