Sberbank and T-Bank have become participants in the digital ruble testing project

December 28. /MEDIA TALK/. Sberbank and T-bank joined the experiment to test the digital ruble. Tochka Bank, focused on supporting entrepreneurs, has also been added to the list of project participants. Currently, 15 financial institutions are conducting transactions with electronic rubles in an experimental mode. These include Alfa-Bank, VTB, Gazprombank, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, Rosbank, Dom.Russian Federation", "Ak Bars", "MTS Bank" and "Rosselkhoznadzor". Financial organizations are testing the entire infrastructure related to digital rubles, including the opening, closing and replenishment of electronic wallets, transactions between individuals, payment for products and services, including transactions through a dynamic QR code, automatic payments and transfers between accounts of organizations.

Since September 1, 2024, the number of participants involved in the pilot has increased. Since the start of testing the digital ruble in August 2023, 600 individuals and 22 companies have gained access to it, and now it is possible to connect about 9 thousand individuals and 1.2 thousand organizations. According to the regulator, over 38,000 transactions with the digital ruble were carried out by private individuals as of December 1, 2024. A new national currency is expected to be widely introduced from the beginning of July 2025. By this date, all key banks are required to ensure that transactions with digital rubles are available to their customers.
