Sellers complained to the FAS about the marketing policy of the marketplaces
November 29th. /MEDIA TALK/. Sellers of online platforms through the International Association for the Development of Marketplaces and Entrepreneurs appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service with a request to check marketplaces for violations of competition law. Kommersant writes about this today with reference to the text of the letter that was at the disposal of the editorial office.

Sellers' dissatisfaction was caused by the actual coercion on the part of the platforms to participate in automatic discount promotions. They claim that if the seller refuses to make discounts on products, the algorithms stop promoting their products and they do not get into the priority issue on the websites and applications of the platforms.

It is noted that "discount" goods gain an advantage over conventional ones, as a result, buyers refuse products at the market price. In turn, this may provoke the departure of smaller sellers from marketplaces and the establishment of control over the price situation by larger players.

Recall, according to the Associations of the Internet trade company, for 9 months of 2024, the volume of online sales in Russia exceeded 6.2 trillion rubles, which is almost one and a half times higher than last year. AKIT believes that car discounts, on the contrary, promote competition between market participants and the establishment of fair market prices for products.
