St. Petersburg has signed an agreement for the construction of a new section of the high-speed Latitudinal Highway
November 20th. /MEDIA TALK/. A new concession agreement was signed today on the continuation of the construction of a high-speed Latitudinal Highway between the Government of St. Petersburg and VTB Bank. This is reported by TASS.

As Governor Alexander Beglov noted, the highway is an important infrastructure project of the North-West and will provide a transport corridor to Karelia, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and other cities.

The first stage of construction is already coming to an end, the Vitebsk interchange will be opened at the end of December 2024, the volume of investments in it amounted to about 43 billion rubles. The second and third stages of construction will begin in 2025.

The SMSD is being built bypassing the central part of St. Petersburg. It starts from the Western High-speed Diameter and should join the ring road in the Kudrovo area. The length of the highway will be 27.4 km, including 14.2 km in St. Petersburg and 8.2 km in the Leningrad region.

Recall that in April, Vladimir Putin instructed St. Petersburg to allocate 90 billion rubles from the federal budget for the construction of a high-speed Latitudinal highway. The cost of the second, third and fourth stages of the route is estimated at 241 billion rubles.
