Telecom operators will be obliged to deduct 2% of revenue to the universal service reserve

December 11th. /MEDIA TALK/. The law, according to which the percentage of deductions from public communication network operators will increase from 1.2% to 2% of income, was adopted today by the State Duma. Amendments have been made to the Law "On Communications".

The government will determine the list of settlements where fiber-optic communication lines will be laid with the funds received, as well as the development and implementation of advanced technologies. The law also increases the threshold for the number of residents in settlements where providers will install base stations and organize Wi-Fi points from 500 to 1000 residents.

Part of the revenue of telecom operators, with the exception of profits from connectivity and Internet traffic, is directed to the Universal Service Reserve. The volume of annual deductions was about 15 billion rubles. The new deduction percentage will be charged from January 1, 2025.
