February 21st. /MEDIA TALK/. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, SEZs make a significant contribution to the Russian economy, amounting to 1.2 trillion rubles.

This was announced to TASS by Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Today, there are 54 SEZs operating in the Russian Federation, in which over 1300 unique projects are being implemented.

Approximately 76% of them have been launched in the last five years. The total amount of investments in these projects exceeds 6.6 trillion rubles, of which 2.2 trillion rubles have already been invested. Vakhrukov also noted that in 2024, 230 new residents were registered on the territory of the SEZ, which was a record since 2006.

To support the regions, a cost recovery mechanism has been introduced for the development of the infrastructure of the zones. As part of it, expenses were compensated for St. Petersburg, as well as Moscow, Moscow, Lipetsk, and Ivanovo regions. At the same time, the expenses of the budget of the Russian Federation are covered by tax deductions paid by enterprises operating in these zones. Compensation for the Saint Petersburg SEZ in 2024 alone amounted to 2.1 billion rubles, while resident enterprises replenished the federal treasury with more than 8 billion in taxes paid.

Earlier, we told you that a new special economic zone, the Gornaya Shoriya tourist and recreational zone, will appear in Kuzbass.
