According to information provided by the Unified Gambling Regulator (ERAI), in 2024 the number of players was over 6 million people, among whom there were more than 2 million active participants betting at least once a month. The ERAI considers the growth to be the result of the active blocking of the Internet resources of illegal sweepstakes and the influx of audiences to official betting sites.

Market participants attribute the growth in betting volume to the active advertising activities of bookmakers and the holding of major sporting events such as the European Football Championship. The average increase in the bets of Russian citizens at the preliminary stage of Euro-24 was 90% compared to the previous European Championship, while the average size of one bet increased by 42%.
Starting in 2024, bookmakers are required to contribute 2% of their income to the development of sports. According to experts, targeted deductions by the end of the year should amount to about 33 billion rubles.
