July 26th. /MEDIA TALK/.On Friday, July 26, the Central Bank of Russia decided to raise the key rate to 18%. This follows from the release of the regulator.

In justifying the decision, the Central Bank stressed that the inflation rate in the country exceeds the projected level. To combat it, it is necessary to tighten monetary policy.

The Central Bank also raised its inflation forecast for 2024 to 6.5-7%. A return to the previously planned value of 4% is scheduled for 2025.

It should be noted that this is the first increase in the key rate in Russia since December last year. Then the Central Bank increased the value to 16%, after which it kept it at the same level several times.

Recall that on the eve of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the authorities are taking measures to curb inflation. This is how he answered a question from journalists about the rise in the price of air tickets in the country.
