January 17th. /MEDIA TALK/. From January to November 2024, the volume of antidepressants sold in Russia increased by 16.8% compared to the same period last year and reached 16.1 million packages. These are the data from the DSM Group, which Kommersant cites today. Total sales of antidepressants increased by 31.9% from January to November 2024, reaching 13.5 billion rubles. This is primarily due to an increase in the cost of medicines: according to Rosstat statistics, their price increased by 11%, while the overall inflation rate was 9.5%.

Due to the increased consumption of antidepressants in pharmacies, there is a shortage of the most popular medicines. Since January 2025, the drug Zoloft has been unavailable in some networks, Kommersant journalists note. According to experts, another factor that has influenced the growing demand for antidepressants is that people are less likely to resort to traditional methods of treatment and are increasingly seeking help from specialists.
