The euro also showed a decline, falling by 1.22% to 92 rubles and 23 kopecks.
On the eve of February 19, the dollar exchange rate on the Forex market dropped below 89 rubles for the first time in several months, reaching a minimum of 88.78 rubles.
Analysts attribute this dynamic to the beginning of Russian-American negotiations and optimistic statements by US President Donald Trump, which supported the positive mood in the market.
