The EU increased fertilizer imports from Russia in 2024
July 24th. /MEDIA TALK/. On Tuesday, July 23, it became known that in the period from January to May this year, the EU increased fertilizer imports from Russia by 1.7 times compared to the first five months of 2023. Vedomosti wrote about this with reference to Eurostat.

So, in the five months of this year, the EU countries purchased 1.9 million tons of fertilizers. The largest buyers were Poland, France and Germany (467,700, 228,500 and 214,300 tons, respectively).

The media added that the purchase of fertilizers from the Russian Federation turned out to be more profitable for Europe than the production of substances for soil and plants. The reason for the high cost of own products in the EU was expensive gas.

Recall that in mid-May it was reported that Russia supplied America with a record amount of fertilizers. So, in March, the United States purchased minerals from the Russian Federation in the amount of almost 175 million dollars.
