The exchange price of electricity in Germany has broken a record
December 13th. /MEDIA TALK/. The cost of electricity in Germany broke a record, the day before the price of a megawatt-hour on the stock exchange was 936 euros. This is reported by the German business newspaper Handelsblatt. According to the publication, a sharp increase in the value of shares at auction occurred on Thursday between 17.00 and 18.00 (19.00 and 20.00 Moscow time). It is noted that even in a difficult period for the European energy market in 2022, this indicator did not reach the level of €900. Changes in the value of shares on the stock market have been observed in recent weeks. The publication attributes this growth to natural factors: cloudy and windless weather affects the operation of solar and wind power plants.

The head of the Association of chemical enterprises, Wolfgang Grosse Entrup, expressed his dissatisfaction with regular failures in the power system, which, they believe, needs to be radically modernized, including by erecting spare power generating units and energy batteries. Entrup expressed confidence that the future government, which will be formed after the elections scheduled for February 2025, will implement such a reform. The current government, headed by Olaf Scholz, planned to carry out similar transformations, but the decision was not supported in the Bundestag at last Wednesday's vote.

As the newspaper notes, the ordinary population does not suffer from such fluctuations in prices on the stock exchange, since consumers enter into agreements with resource supply companies for at least a year with a fixed cost.
