The Federation Council has consolidated the concept of "mentoring" and additional payments for it
November 6. /MEDIA TALK/. Amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation were approved at the plenary session of the Federation Council. The new norms consolidate the concept of "mentoring". It refers to the assistance that employees provide to their colleagues in order for them to master new skills and get used to the workplace. At the same time, it is mandatory at the direction of the employer and for a fee. Such work can be prescribed in an employment contract or in an additional agreement to it.

The amount of the additional payment for mentoring must also be specified in the contract. If we are talking about employees of state institutions, the amount will be regulated by special regulations.

In addition, according to the amendments, an employee has the right to refuse the duty of a mentor, or to stop such work by notifying his employer 3 working days in advance.

The norm should enter into force after being signed by the President and officially published on March 1, 2025.
