The task set by the antimonopoly department and the relevant ministry is to solve the problem of a multiple increase in the cost of hotel accommodation during major events and forums. According to the FAS proposal, the maximum prices will be determined based on the base cost per square meter in a hotel in each region, to which a coefficient determined by the Government will be added. The room size and the hotel category (with or without stars) will be taken into account.

The periods of restrictions will be established by a special list, which will be regulated by federal law or presidential decree. These can be such international significant events as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Eastern Economic Forum or the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.
