The index of business activity in the service sector in Russia showed a decrease in December
December 28. /MEDIA TALK/. According to the results of the S&P Global analysis, the PMI indicator of the Russian service sector reached a level of 51.2 units in December 2024. This is 2 points lower than it was in November, when the index was 53.2 points. The decrease in the indicator indicates a decrease in the growth rate in the service sector, despite the fact that its level remains above 50, which indicates high business activity in the sector. This may also indicate a policy of moderation in investments and plans to expand Russian enterprises against the background of economic instability, experts say.

Experts point out that the PMI index was influenced by an increase in the number of new orders, this trend has been observed since July. The growth in the number of employees reached its maximum in the last quarter due to high demand and increased capacity utilization, which also affected the level of business activity, as companies exhausted their expansion opportunities due to staff shortages. Since November, there has been an increase in the volume of unfinished works, their number is at its highest in the last 16 months in December.

As we reported earlier, the PMI indicator (business activity indicator) is compiled based on the opinions of purchasing managers through regular monthly surveys. Based on their point of view, market trends are analyzed.
