July 19th. /MEDIA TALK/. On Friday, July 19, it became known that the Ministry of Finance plans to raise the rate on the "Arctic mortgage" from 2 to 8%. This was told to Izvestia by Deputy head of the department Ivan Chebeskov.

The ministry plans to increase the cost of concessional loans in stages, he said.

Chebeskov also explained that the 2% figure was introduced to support developers, not citizens. The representative of the Ministry of Finance added that subsidized housing programs in the Russian Federation need to be brought to more market conditions, and their total market share should decrease to 25%.

Arctic Mortgage was launched in the country last year. The program is valid until 2030.

Recall that today the Central Bank announced that the share of preferential mortgages in the Russian Federation in June reached 80%. The regulator explained the figures by the fact that citizens were trying to get a loan in time ahead of the closure of the subsidized housing program.
