The average annual tourist flow from Russia increased by 6% this year, and almost 185 thousand Russians visited the Maldives in 10 months. In November, December and January, an increase in the number of tourists is also predicted, at this time it is "high season" on the islands. Among the reasons for the increased popularity of the elite destination among Russian travelers is a multiple increase in the cost of holidays in alternative locations. Tours to Turkey have risen in price and their cost is approaching the price of a trip to the Maldives.

In addition, in September 2024, two tour operators at once - Anex and Intourist - launched direct charter flights from Russia. Since 2022, direct flights have been organized by Aeroflot. The Association of Tour Operators previously noted that holidays in Turkey have become more expensive than in the United Arab Emirates, we talked about this.
