The tourist tax was introduced in 55 regions of the country

Starting from the beginning of 2025, a tourist tax will come into force in the Russian Federation, which will replace the resort fee introduced experimentally in a number of cities. 55 territories have approved the introduction of duties. TASS writes about this today with reference to the relevant decisions of the regional authorities.

In the whole region, the tourist tax will be levied in the Altai Republic, the Kamchatka Territory, the Republic of Karelia and the Vologda Region. In some regions, the tax will apply exclusively in regional centers such as Arkhangelsk, Vladikavkaz, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Omsk, Nalchik, Penza, Ryazan, Tula, Ulan-Ude, Khabarovsk and Elista. In some regions, the tax will be introduced for small tourist destinations: in Kuzbass, this is the Sheregesh ski center, in the Altai Territory - the Belokurikha wellness complex, in the Irkutsk region - the village of Listvyanka near Lake Baikal, in the Kaliningrad region - the cities of Svetlogorsk and Zelenogradsk, in the Krasnodar Territory - Sochi, and in the Stavropol Territory - the cities ofresorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

The amount of tax fees for 2025 will be 1% of the amount of the room stay, but not less than 100 rubles per night. By 2029, the interest rate will be increased to 5%. Unlike the previous resort fee, the new tax will be levied not on tourists, but on owners of hotels, apartments and apartments.
