The volume of cargo on the border between Russia and Azerbaijan has increased dramatically
November 29th. /MEDIA TALK/. According to Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, the total volume of cargo on the border between Russia and Azerbaijan has increased fivefold. His words are quoted by TASS.

As the Deputy Prime Minister stressed, the Government pays great attention to the development of infrastructure and modernization of international checkpoints. He also noted that the eastern branch of the North-South transport corridor is already operating - traffic has been launched along the highway along the coast of the Caspian Sea from Russia through Azerbaijan to the border with Iran.

The total volume of freight traffic between Russia and Azerbaijan along the North-South international transport corridor amounted to 11 million tons in the first 10 months of 2024, exceeding the figures of 2023 by 5%. The North-South international transport corridor should play a significant role in the formation of a "new logistics" and the restoration of international transport and logistics chains. It includes railway, automobile, sea and river routes with a total length of 7,200 km. To date, the corridor has three branches: the western one along the western shore of the Caspian Sea, the eastern one along the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, and the trans-Caspian one across the Caspian Sea.
