The volume of container traffic in Russia in 2024 increased by 6.4%

November 25th. /MEDIA TALK/. According to the FESCO transport group, the Russian container market has shown steady growth this year. Import shipments added 4% and reached 2.338 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent, unit of cargo vehicle capacity - approx. Media Current). Exports also increased by 6% to 1.469 million TEU. The volume of domestic transportation amounted to 1,151 million TEU, an increase of 6%, transit rail transportation increased by 23% and reached 508 thousand TEU.

It is noted that the main driver of growth was the ports of the North-West, export shipments through them increased by 46%. Exports through Far Eastern ports decreased by 26%. Shipments through the port of Novorossiysk increased by 26%. Import shipments through the ports of the Far East increased by 12%, through the ports of the North-West - by 25%, through the port of Novorossiysk decreased by 2%.
