Altynbek Abduvapov, the head of the State Tax Service, was arrested in Kyrgyzstan. His deputy was also taken into custody. They are considered to be involved in fraud. The suspects will remain in custody until January 20th.
The State Committee for National Security interrogated the detainees. They are considered to be involved in corruption and abuse of office. According to investigators, Altynbek Abduvapov and Islambek Kydyrgychov participated in fraud with electronic consignment notes.

Earlier, by order of the State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan, alcohol suppliers and producers had to replace excise stamps from 2023 and replace them earlier with stamps from 2024. After that, the Suppliers Association appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a request to increase the period for replacing excise taxes from three days to six months.
At the same time, the State Committee for National Security revealed a scheme of fraud with excise stamps. The damage to the state from corruption amounted to almost $ 37 million, Interfax reports.
