The specialists have completely drained the oil products from the main and ballast tanks. At the moment, the tanks are being cleaned for further cutting and disposal, the government commission for the elimination of the consequences of the tanker crash said.
From January 19th to January 25th, almost 1,500 tons of fuel oil were pumped out, which was then loaded into 20 railway tank cars. The specialists had to restore the ship's standard equipment beforehand in order to carry out pumping. The fuel oil had to be brought to a temperature of 45 degrees to make it fluid.

Earlier, a temporary road was built to the tanker so that vehicles could drive up to it. The embankment played the role of an artificial hydraulic structure and protected the tanker from storms and oil spills into the sea.
At the moment, experts are preparing a project for the disposal of the ship's stern. The plan should be ready by January 30th. The cutting and removal of the tanker should be carried out before March 31, the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation said.
