For the third year, Voronezh district councils have been fencing tree trunks on central streets using edged boards. And they cope with their task – the safety of trees during snow removal – but they do not look aesthetically pleasing
"A company that works with recyclables has offered its own option: fences made of mineral polymer composite. It is a durable, vandal-proof material, resistant to the urban environment. In addition, it has proven itself: the city already has benches made of this material," said Galina Vorobyova, head of the Ecology Department.

Sergey Petrin added that this winter several trees will be protected with new structures as an experiment.
"We will try to install such fences on the territory of the Central or Leninsky districts. Let's see how they show themselves," the mayor summed up.
In addition, Sergey Petrin said that the dried maples on Revolution Avenue will be replaced with new ones. 21 new trees will be planted by the end of this year.
"We have been experimenting with maples for a long time: we changed the soil, made drainage. Before that, there was a supply of seedlings from Europe, but they decided to complete it with Russian products. Visually, our maples are in no way inferior to European ones," explained the mayor.
The head of the city added that he had instructed the Central District administration to increase the trunk spaces and combine several trees in them, as this should fruitfully affect the quality of green spaces.
In total, 3,405 trees and 79,881 shrubs were planted in Voronezh in 2024. Another 1,559 trees and 2,291 shrubs are planned to be planted by the end of the year.
