One of the key developments of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology is tubular structures made of bacterial cellulose designed to create artificial blood vessels. This work aroused the interest of the A.V. Vishnevsky National Medical Research Center for Surgery. The Institute of Mechanics and Energy is engaged in the development of technologies for coating with certain characteristics. In partnership with the Fiber Optics Engineering Center, university specialists are exploring ways to create special optical fibers.
A promising area is composite materials created from secondary resources, which are used in the construction and furniture industries. In addition, the Medical Institute, together with the Federal Center for the Development of Biotechnology and Medicine in Saransk, is working on the creation of new medicines.
