During the year, residents of Mordovia transferred almost half a billion rubles to fraudsters.
January 10th. /MEDIA TALK/.In December 2024, more than 120 residents contacted the republic's police with allegations of theft of money from bank accounts.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, fraudsters stole over 450 million rubles from almost one and a half thousand residents last year. In December alone, more than 120 citizens contacted the police with allegations of theft of money from their bank cards, the total amount of damage amounted to more than 34 million rubles.

The police remind that, as before, the most common deception scheme is offers to extend the validity of a SIM card and communication service contracts. Also, attackers often offer citizens protection from allegedly unauthorized debiting of money from an account.

The Interior Ministry once again urges citizens to be vigilant and reminds them not to disclose to unauthorized persons their bank card details, PIN codes and one-time passwords to confirm transactions. And in the case when unknown people call and introduce themselves as employees of the bank or the police, end the conversation, and then clarify the information on the official numbers of the organizations.
