The Republican event is a kind of harvest festival. Cucumbers in various types could be purchased in the village's market square: fresh, pickled, salted and even fried. In addition, the guests of the festival were offered to try cucumber jam and pies with this vegetable crop.

However, cucumbers are not the only thing that surprised the guests. The tables at the festival were bursting with treats. The residents of Aksel offered to try local honey, berries, Mordovian and Tatar dishes. Bright folk costumes pleased the eye and created a festive mood. Folk ensembles performed on the stage, and workshops on painting nesting dolls, gingerbread and magnets were held nearby.
