Three new trams will be launched on route No. 13 in Novosibirsk
October 23rd. /MEDIA TALK/.In 2024, 20 car kits were purchased to upgrade the tram fleet, modernization costs twice as much as purchase.

The head of Novosibirsk, Maxim Kudryavtsev, told how the tram fleet will be updated in the near future. According to the mayor, 20 car sets have already been purchased, 3 trams have already been assembled. They run on route No13. The development of this type of transport is one of the priorities of the city authorities.

Trams are popular among Novosibirsk residents. They have a great future, Maxim Kudryavtsev said. Trams travel on a dedicated line, they are not affected by traffic jams and weather conditions. The administration intends to comprehensively develop rail transport, which includes trams, subways and commuter trains.

Now the city is updating the tram fleet at a joint venture with Belarusians. The chassis of the cars is being overhauled, after which the car gets a new body of Belarusian production. Trams updated in this way have been running in Novosibirsk since 2017. This year, the city Hall has purchased 20 bodies of the latest T701 model. They will start transporting passengers soon. All cars will operate on route 13, which is very popular among Novosibirsk residents.

The body of the T701 differs from previous models in its modern ergonomic design, the presence of an air conditioner, a more advanced heating system and four doors instead of three. Validators for non-cash fare payment are installed in trams.
Upgrading trams costs the city budget twice as much as buying a new one. In addition, when updating machines, asynchronous motors are now used, which make the running smoother, save electricity and have a longer service life.

In addition to updating the rolling stock, tram tracks continue to be repaired in the city. The work on Mira Street will be completed soon. And next year, tram tracks will be brought to the same level with the roadway, and stops will be equipped with "Vienna platforms," the press service of the Novosibirsk City Hall said.
