Mikhail Degtyarev, head of the Russian Ministry of Sports, met with the director of the Southern Federal Sports Training Center "Yug Sport" to discuss further development of the base.
Yug Sport includes a Sailing Center, the Slava Metreveli Stadium, an athletics core, a Federal Martial Arts Center, a Weightlifting Center and a Table Tennis Development Center. People with disabilities, among others, can study at all facilities. This is the largest of the modern bases of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
Every year, the Yug Sport center hosts about 230 training camps in 72 types of sports and more than 100 competitions of different levels.

Two years ago, the center hosted the Summer Paralympic Games "We are together. Sports". About 1,200 people from 11 countries took part in them. And in 2024, the sports base hosted the international 5x5 University Cup competition among student field hockey teams.
The center has 12 sports schools in such areas as fencing, rugby, football, athletics, table tennis, sailing, weightlifting, rhythmic gymnastics, boxing and Aikido. More than 2,000 children attend classes.
In February, a capsule was laid at the Yug Sport base facility about the start of construction work of the Figure Skating and Hockey Academy under the public-private partnership program by Ilya Averbukh's enterprise, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation said.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister announced compulsory sports for everyone in the government.
