The new tax will be paid by the guests. The contribution amount will be 1% of the cost of living, then it will increase by 1% annually until 2029, until it reaches 5%.

It should be noted that the introduction of a tourist tax was approved by the State Duma this summer. Relevant amendments have been made to the Tax Code.
Russian regions independently decide whether to charge such a fee to travelers.
Recall that last week it was reported that Yekaterinburg may also introduce a tourist tax. The final decision on this issue will be made in November.
