Cards used for illegal cash withdrawal have increased in price several times on the black market
December 27. /MEDIA TALK/. According to the Central Bank, over the past year, the price of bank cards on the "black" market used for suspicious transactions and receiving cash (dropper cards) has increased from 5-6 thousand rubles to 30-40 thousand rubles. RBC writes about this with reference to the regulator's data.

This trend is explained by the increased interaction between the Central Bank and financial institutions in 2024 to identify individuals using their cards for dropper operations. In particular, the Central Bank has introduced a monitoring system in some banks based on the use of artificial intelligence technologies. By the end of the year, the volume of transactions through dropper accounts has approximately tripled.

The central Bank will increase penalties for participation in such frauds, up to criminal liability, and also plans to create a centralized system for detecting intermediaries in illegal financial transactions.

According to the regulator, about 10 million Russians transferred money to dropper cards in 2024. At the same time, as emphasized in the Central Bank, not all of these people are "professional scammers," most of them are involved in dubious schemes by accident, for example, under the guise of "easy" earnings.
