Fines for traffic violations may increase from January 1, 2025

As Vedomosti reports today, with reference to the draft amendments to the Administrative Code concerning fines for traffic violations, from January 1, 2025, the penalty for traveling without seat belts may be increased from 1,000 to 1,500 rubles, for drunk driving - from 30 to 45 thousand rubles. The range of fines for speeding violations is proposed to be changed from 500-5000 rubles to 750-7500. The highest rates for "high-speed articles" are provided for residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Among the changes, it is also proposed to reduce the "discount" for the quick payment of a fine. Now, if you pay within 20 days, its amount is 50% of the amount of the penalty. If this amendment is adopted, the term of the "preferential" payment will increase to 30 days, but will amount to 25%.
