The head of Pridnestrovie, Vadim Krasnoselsky, explained that the measure was due to the shutdown of the central heating system. This caused an increase in the load on the power grid, as residents began to heat their homes with electrical appliances, which caused many accidents on the grid. According to the head of the republic, 1.5 thousand multi-storey and 72 thousand private houses remain without heat.
Starting from January 5, 2025, the republic is going to extend the time of rolling power outages to four hours daily. A state of emergency has been in effect in Transnistria since December 11 due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies.
